What Is AI Polish & How to Use It

One click refines the grammar, punctuation, and Philippine legal phrasing of your generated document — and one click brings the original back. Here is exactly what it does, and what it will never touch.

AI Polish is Legalia's built-in copy editor for Philippine legal English. After you generate a document, one click sends the text through an AI pass that fixes spelling, grammar, and punctuation and tightens awkward wording into idiomatic legal phrasing — then shows you every single change it made, with a reason, before you decide to keep it.

The two things lawyers ask first: will it change what my document says? and what if I don't like the result? The short answers are no and one click brings your original back, free. The rest of this guide covers both in detail.

What AI Polish Does

AI Polish makes small, surgical language fixes — the kind a careful proofreader would pencil in. It may improve:

  • Spelling, grammar, and punctuation — typos, missing commas, run-on punctuation
  • Articles and agreement — a / an / the, subject-verb agreement
  • Capitalization — sentence casing in prose, Title Case for names where appropriate
  • Phrasing — swapping an awkward word or short phrase for idiomatic Philippine legal English

Each edit is limited to single words or short phrases. AI Polish is forbidden from reordering clauses or restructuring sentences — your document keeps its shape; only the rough edges are smoothed.

What It Never Changes

AI Polish runs under hard rules — not suggestions, but constraints the AI must obey on every run:

  • Amounts, dates, reference numbers, ID numbers, and proper names are never altered.
  • No facts are added or removed, and no legal claims, admissions, waivers, or obligations are introduced. The legal meaning of the document never changes.
  • No guessing about people. It never infers gender, civil status, age, nationality, or religion from a name — and inclusive pronoun pairs like his/her are kept exactly as written, never collapsed to a single pronoun.
  • The document structure is preserved — blank lines, signature lines, the venue block, and the notarial register stay exactly where they are. Signature-block names stay in ALL CAPS.

Before & After

A typical polish on a short recital — two grammar fixes, while the date, the amount, and every name stay untouched:

Before

That on 5 May 2026, I purchase from ABC Trading Services one (1) office printer for the amount of FIFTEEN THOUSAND PESOS (₱15,000.00), and I am executing this affidavit to attest the truth of the foregoing.

After — AI Polished

That on 5 May 2026, I purchased from ABC Trading Services one (1) office printer for the amount of FIFTEEN THOUSAND PESOS (₱15,000.00), and I am executing this affidavit to attest to the truth of the foregoing.

Notice what didn't move: 5 May 2026, ABC Trading Services, and FIFTEEN THOUSAND PESOS (₱15,000.00) are byte-for-byte identical. Only the verb tense and a missing preposition were fixed.

How to Use It

Step 1: Generate your document

Fill in the form for any document type and generate it. AI Polish works on the finished document text shown in the preview panel.

Step 2: Click "Polish with AI"

The Polish with AI button sits in the action bar above the preview, with your remaining credit count next to it. One credit is used per run.

Step 3: Review the "AI Polish Changes" panel

Every edit is listed in a panel, grouped by type — Grammar, Punctuation, Capitalization, Phrasing, Legal Style, and Formatting — each showing the before text, the after text, and a short reason. Nothing is hidden; if the AI changed it, it's in the list.

Step 4: Keep it or revert with one click

An Original / AI Polished toggle appears above the preview so you can flip between both versions and compare. Prefer your original? Click Revert AI Polish — the switch is instant and free.

Step 5: Print, export to Word, or copy

Export whichever version you're viewing. Print, Word, and Copy never use AI credits — on any plan.

You Can Always Revert

This is the part worth repeating: trying AI Polish risks nothing. When a polish completes, Legalia keeps both versions of your document in memory — the original exactly as generated, and the polished result. The Original / AI Polished toggle and the Revert AI Polish button simply swap which one is displayed:

  • Instant — no AI call, no waiting, no save step.
  • Free — reverting and toggling never use a credit.
  • Repeatable — flip back and forth as many times as you like before printing.

One honest caveat: the polished version lives in your current session. If you reload the page, you're back to your last generated text — which also means your original facts can never be lost to a polish you didn't like.

Credits & Plans

  • Free — 2 AI Polish credits (one-time new-user bonus)
  • Pro — 30 credits per month
  • Ultra — 400 credits per month

Each run costs 1 credit — including runs where the AI finds nothing to improve and reports "no changes". If the AI call itself fails, the credit is automatically refunded. Print, Word, and Copy are unlimited on every plan and never touch your credits.

Try AI Polish on Your Next Document

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I undo AI Polish?
Yes — instantly, and it costs nothing. After a polish, an "Original / AI Polished" toggle appears above the preview, and the changes panel has a "Revert AI Polish" button. Both simply swap the displayed text between the two versions kept in memory — no AI call is made and no credit is used. One honest caveat: the polished version lives in your current session only, so reloading the page returns you to your last generated text. Your original facts are never lost.
Will AI Polish change my names, dates, or amounts?
No. The AI runs under hard rules that forbid altering amounts, dates, reference numbers, ID numbers, and proper names. It also never adds or removes facts, never adds legal claims or admissions, and never changes the legal meaning of the document.
Will it rewrite or restructure my document?
No. AI Polish fixes words and punctuation only — single words or short phrases at a time. It is forbidden from reordering, merging, or splitting clauses or restructuring sentence syntax, and it preserves the document layout: blank lines, signature lines, the venue block, and the notarial register stay exactly where they are.
Does AI Polish guess gender or civil status from a name?
No. The AI is explicitly prohibited from inferring gender, civil status, age, nationality, religion, or any other personal attribute from a name or signature — names are treated as gender-neutral. Inclusive pronoun pairs like "his/her" and "he or she" are kept exactly as written, never collapsed into a single pronoun.
How many credits does one polish cost?
One credit per run — including runs where the AI finds nothing to improve and reports "no changes". If the AI call itself fails, the credit is automatically refunded. Reverting, toggling between versions, printing, Word export, and copying never use credits.
How many AI Polish credits do I get on my plan?
Free includes 2 credits as a one-time new-user bonus. Pro includes 30 credits per month and Ultra includes 400 per month. Print, Word, and Copy are unlimited on every plan and never consume AI credits.
Is my document sent to an AI?
Yes — when you click Polish with AI, the document text is sent securely to the AI model to generate the suggested edits. Nothing is sent until you click the button, and you review every suggested change in the panel before deciding to keep or revert the result.
